Spring Rendezvous 2025
ISK paddlers gathered for the season’s first paddle in the Apostles.

Another season is off to a great start!
Lake Superior was, once again, gentle with us. We had clear skies and calm waters all weekend. On Saturday, we set out in two groups. One group of 8 explored the sea caves at Sand Island and ate lunch at the lighthouse. The other group of 6 went to Raspberry Island. On Sunday, all paddlers launched from Cornucopia. We enjoyed some minor sea caves and an arch along the mainland.
We were excited to camp at the Wilderness Inquiry Base Camp for the first time this year, and hope to have an ongoing relationship and future visits to Wilderness Inquiry. The camping is comfortable, quiet, and private. The showers are warm and don’t require a fistful of quarters. The picnic shelter has running water and electricity. And the staff who were present couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. We enjoyed mellow evenings around the campfire (with not an RV in sight!).
The Spring and Fall Rendezvous trips are the best way to get yourself out unlike superior in a safe and supportive group of experienced paddlers. We had several first timers with us this spring. First crossing, first sea caves, and first lighthouse are all great Rendezvous memories!
A note about Wilderness Inquiry Base Camp. This is not a campground. We have been asked not to refer to it as such. We are mindful of the distinction, and do not want to perpetuate the idea that they are a campground. Please do not refer to it as a campground or reach out to them for camping needs. They are a private organization with a particular mission.
